books, people, learning

Sometimes it happens to have good conversations out of the blue, with people you barely know in situations in which you are expected to do and behave in a completely different way! Isn’t it great?

I ask myself why that happens and I believe it is not something just casual, everything happen for a reason, is the energy we create that attracts it.

There are people that just connect very fast and with whom you can talk for hours without feeling the time passing, and people with whom you just don’t want to spend more than 10 minutes, sitting around a table and not having anything interesting to talk about.

Maybe it’s a bit nerd, but I believe we should spend our time having conversations that matters, and in proportion with other silly ones, those should be more, I would say, at least 75% of them.

Some people learn from books, they read a lot of them, some other learn from others, from the world, by talking and discussing, sharing, living their life as an adventure, having experiences, being brave.

I believe books are important, you should definitely take time to learn from them, but books are written by people, people are the base of everything.

Take time to connect and get to know others.

Of course you won’t like everyone, you should build your environment made of people who have a positive attitude in fact, and not just by saying. Build your network, grow it, nurture it and you will learn more than from any book.

no matter which is your religion, this is more a general concept really worth to be shared

what scares us…

Just thinking on what scares us the most…

is being without money?
is loosing our parents?
is being judged?
is being inadequate?
is loosing our values?
is loosing the person we love?
is being alone?
is loosing a job?
is not being able to find a job?
is not to be healthy anymore?

and the list could continue forever… i’m sure you could add many more.

I think the main mistake we make is that we focus too much on what we are scared of,and we strength our fears, how? we listen at songs that talk about lost love or sad topic, we watch movies in which there’s corruption and war, and monsters, scary stuffs, we play video games in which we can kill someone and laugh about it and we talk with friends about that guy who cheat on his girlfriend, we save money to enjoy the future and be safe in it and we forget to enjoy the present.

We choose those things, we chose how we live every second of our existence, we shape our days. Unfortunatly those fears are the main reason to each choice we make, take 10 minutes of your time and think about it.

If we could free our mind from fears we might be able to live in a more serene way, be confident about what we do, because that would be our choice, free of any fear of judgment (and not because we chose what everyone expected us to chose, but just because that is what we really want).

It takes a lot of efforts, but in the end it is probably worth it, i don’t know, I’m not different from you, I’m influenced by my fears as well so i can’t tell you how it feels to be free from them. And i still haven’t met someone who’s free from fears, but if i do, i will ask him.

In the meanwhile i can just train myself in the process of changing my fears into something positive. Learn how to approach any situation, as hard as it can be, and find happiness in the only place it can be found, inside me.

Everyday we have someone we want to thank, our partner for a nice message, a friend for that coffee talk that made us feel better and less alone in this world, our mum or that for always taking care about us, our brother or sister for a sincere laugh. Here is not about diamonds, that someone said last forever, here is about people giving us emotions that are truly staying forever inside us.

Who are you gonna thank today? Who’s the lucky person who’s gonna feel important and appreciated because of you?

My tea’s gone cold, I’m wondering why
I got out of bed at all
The morning rain clouds up my window
and I can’t see at all
And even if I could it’d all be grey,
but your picture on my wall
It reminds me that it’s not so bad,
it’s not so bad

I drank too much last night, got bills to pay,
my head just feels in pain
I missed the bus and there’ll be hell today,
I’m late for work again
And even if I’m there, they’ll all imply
that I might not last the day
And then you call me and it’s not so bad,
it’s not so bad and

I want to thank you
for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you
is having the best day of my life

Push the door, I’m home at last
and I’m soaking through and through
Then you hand me a towel
and all I see is you
And even if my house falls down,
I wouldn’t have a clue
Because you’re near me and

I want to thank you
for giving me the best day of my life
Oh just to be with you
is having the best day of my life

Just reflecting on how 97% of italian songs are Love Songs.

We are lately listening an italian radio in the office, from 9 till 18, and i never notice that we italians are so romantic, at least in songs. Real life… well that’s another story … but i think it is not so different in the end, and anyway is one of the good stereotypes about us.

Do you think italian are romantic people? Oh well, what do you think about italians in general? Would be great to read your comments about it, i bet you can say fun stuff, and i can tell you if it is true or not!!!!

If you are curious here you have the link, they also have international music.

Dora Salemi reflectionJust few minutes ago i was sitting in a very comfortable chair , drinking my morning coffee in one of the most inspiring place in Amsterdam, in the second floor of this building admiring the view on the canals, the tipical architecture of the city, people biking in a very relaxed sunday morning …

Everything looked so perfect and suddenly i saw a man going close to a trush bin and start looking for food inside there. I felt like shit, and i wanted to go downstairs and give him the sandwitches i brought for my lunch but he went away immediately, probably he couldn’t find any food left inside there.

Again this made me remember how much we should be gratefull for what we have, even for that sandwitches we complain about because it is the same food everyday, not very healthy and kind of boring, but at least we can eat, some others can’t even in this part of the “developed world” , even in Amsterdam where people seems not to have problems and the average salary is 34,746 (goss)per year.

That man wouldn’t be probably be allowed to enter this building because of his clothes and the way he looked like, and i’m inside here writing about him and you are probably sitting in a warm place reading this post while he probaly slept outside with just 0 degrees during the night.

This post was not ment to make you feel bad but just to make you reflect a little bit more on how really lucky you are and start appreciating it.

Have a good sunday, make in meaningfull, you have the power to choose.

Feeling like in Paris…

If there’s something that amazed me all the time about internet is its ability of shrink distances and time, of making you feel in Paris when you are in Amsterdam…

you can’t really miss this amazing website

Calmness of mind …

Have u ever had the feeling to live in the future? Living waiting for something to happen and forgetting about what u have around you?

I did.

Since some months i’m working on this weakness of mine, forcing myself in looking at what i have now. And well, is working!! I feel more relaxed and serene and i enjoy more places and people.

Sometimew we blame time to pass too fast or too slow, but time is the last thing we should worry about, why?

TIME Is the most sure and secure thing because is gonna flow anyway, that u want it or not, one second will pass after another, and so hours, and days and months and years… stop worrying about that because simply there’s nothing you can do.

life, reflectionBut there’s a big BUT, you can’t stop time BUT you can chose how to use every second you are given in this live, you can choose if to waste it or to make it work for you. You can choose if to enjoy it or if to waste it.

You should learn how to use the present and live it fully in order to be able to enjoy the future and not just wait the future to come hoping that will bring you something good. Because is not necessarly going to happen.

The best u can do is to use today, do all you can, do not be lazy, do not procrastinate, do not blame it, today is the most powerfull thing you have in your hands, don’t trush it.

If u do so, time can just be your best friend and not something you should worry about.

Try and let me know 🙂

Mental Attitude…

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.
Thomas Jefferson

How true….. Day by day building our mental attitude, keep it in the right track, i find it the hardest thing ever, it requires a lot of self discipline and at some points it makes you fight against yourself, against your lazyness. Is so much easier to give up and not to have patience… but then we end up just having regreats on time wasted and feeling unsatisfied and not liking ourselves anymore and complaining and blaming. But think about it… it all starts from our mind and whatever happens we can decide how to live it and approach it.
